Product Details

The use of ceramics in Cambodia can be traced all the way back to 5000 BCE. The ancient Khmers primarily created ceramics as vessels used for daily living – this included cauldrons, vases, storage containers, etc. Modern advancements in materials means that the use of clay vessels is rarer, however you can still find traditional pots displayed and sold on oxcarts today, cushioned with straw for their journey over bumpy roads.

Add a subtle pop of colour to your tabletops with our Khmer ceramic dish. The clay is glazed with elemental tones (earth, air, water) and features an embellished lining of woven rattan, adding a warm & earthy finish to the vessel. The inspiration for this ceramic comes from traditional Khmer culture yet with a modern aesthetic, a fusion of old and new. It’s a versatile piece for holding items of your choosing - fresh fruit, keys, trinkets, you name it.

This dish is handcrafted in Siem Reap by a team of skilled potters in an open air workplace, allowing the fresh air and natural light in for the clay’s breathability. The raw materials have been locally sourced, with the clay and rattan coming from Kampong Chhnang & Bantay Srey areas.

As a handcrafted product, the beauty is that no piece is created identical. There will be slight variations in size, shape and colour, proof that the products are hand & human-made.
