Product Details

Palm trees grow natively throughout the plains of Cambodia. It is a tree that holds a lot of national character and significance, with no parts of it going unused - the leaves are dried and used for thatching roofs, or seen in homes as baskets, mats and walls. Fruit-bearing palm trees are harvested and used to make palm sugar, juice, and even wine. Its wood is used to build traditional Khmer homes, home furniture, and boats.

Our rectangular dish is made from palmwood from the Kampong Chhnang province and is polished with coconut oil. The natural brown stripes and swirls give the palmwood a striking texture that adds warmth to your space. Its circular shape makes it a versatile homeware piece - you can use it for interior decor in your home, but also kitchenware either as a fruit bowl or a natural bowl for your meals.

This series of dishes are created by palmwood carpenters in the city of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Protected site. This location is situated in the jungle, home to the iconic Angkor Wat temple and other fabled ancient ruins.

As a handcrafted product, the beauty is that no piece is created identical. There will be slight variations in size, shape and texture, proof that the products are hand & human-made.

Specs & Care:
Hand wash only with warm soapy water and leave it to air dry. Oiling the bowl with coconut oil or olive oil twice a year ensures the product’s vibrance and longevity.
