Product Details

The garment industry has quickly become one of the largest contributors to the Khmer economy. Despite positive achievements, it has also posed problematic challenges to the environment, with a significant amount of raw fabrics ending up in landfills or disposed into the environment. With these harmful practices, the nation has looked to more sustainable solutions and are increasingly turning to upcycling and circular economy principles. Natural textiles is a lost practice, but is once again gaining ground in the country.

This scrunchie is made from banana fabric (yes, you heard that right!) using the microfibers taken from the stems of the fruit. It’s been created using raw materials that are discarded after a banana harvest, and excess tree stocks are cut and processed into fibers. The fabric’s texture gives it a natural tartan pattern, making this stand out amongst other scrunchies.

Refined and sustainable, o
ur scrunchies use 100% biodegradable, no-dye fabrics that come from local plants/fruits and are handcrafted by a community of female weavers in Siem Reap. These hair accessories are truly special and give an effortless look for holding your hair up. It is a versatile accessory that can be used for countless moments - coffee run, yoga, self-care day, whatever you like. Let it be your next hair care staple.

This product comes in beautiful woven bamboo packaging, woven in the Kampong Chhnang province by a community of female weavers. Store your scrunchie in this sustainable holder or repurpose it for bits and bobs.

As a handcrafted product, the beauty is that no piece is created identical. There will be slight variations in size, shape and colour, proof that the products are hand & human-made.
